Hi there!
My name is Tieryn and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working for over a decade in the Salem area providing mental health services for children/families, teens, and young adults.
I currently work with adolescents and young adults (ages 14-25). For the 2024-2025 school year I provide in-person therapy at both West Salem High School and South Salem High School in the Salem/Keizer School District. I also have a private Telehealth practice where I also work with teens and young adults.
I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I have years of experience working with younger children and families and take those experiences into my work with teens and young adults as I know that early experiences can shape how we engage with the world as we get older. I also work with adolescents or young adults who are wondering if they may have some level of neurodivergence (Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD w/ Sensory Concerns) and enjoy working with individuals on ways to enjoy their brains and learn skills to help navigate the world through that lens. I enjoy working with young adults who are trying to launch into adulthood and need some extra support with their mental health along the way.
As a therapist, I believe that people are capable of creating positive change in their own lives if they have the tools. My job as a therapist is to provide clients with information, strategies and emotional understanding to support ongoing success. I also believe that trauma can be processed and individuals can move forward in life without being defined solely by past experiences. I use Attachment Theory, Family Systems Theory, and Empowerment Theory to guide my work. I also lean heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy when working with individuals.
